Sweet Pongal (sakkarai pongal)

                                            (Sakkarai Pongal)

Ingredients:

  • Raw rice - 1 cup
  • Water - 2 and 1/2 liter
  • Moong Dal - 1/2 cup
  • Jaggery - 500 g
  • Cashew nuts 
  • Raisins
  • Ghee - 4 to 5 tbsp
  • Cardamom powder - 1 tbsp
Prep steps:
  1. Take raw rice and wash it with water
  2. Soak the rice and leave for 15 minutes
  3. Take water in a pan
  4. Add the moong dal and rice
  5. Mix it well
  6. Cook it completely for about 20 minutes  (You can use a rice cooker as well)
  7. Add ghee, mix, and keep it aside
  8. Take ghee (1 spoon) in a pan
  9. Put in the cashew nuts and raisins
  10. Add cardamom mix and keep aside
  11. Take jaggery and water in a pan
  12. Let the jaggery completely dissolve
  13. Add the jaggery mixture in the cooked rice and add roasted nuts and raisins
  14. Mix it all well and cook for one minute
  15. Turn off the stove and serve the hot pongal
  16. Enjoy!
