Elayada

Ingredients:
  • Roasted rice flour - 1 cup
  • Boiled water - 1 & 1/4 cup
  • Salt - as per your taste
  • Coconut - 1 small cup (grated)
  • Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Jaggery (grated) - 2 or 3 cubes (or sugar)
  • Banana leaves

------------------------------------------  Prep steps:

  1. Take a glass of roasted rice flour in a a bowl
  2. Add 1 and 1/4 glass of boiling hot water
  3. Add salt to the water, then put this into the rice flour
  4. Knead to a soft dough
  5. Close for ten minutes
  6. Knead well again
  7. Take a kadai, then add jaggery allow it to melt
  8. Add the grated coconut and crushed cardamom powder, then add a pinch of salt. Adjust the sweetness according to your taste
  9. Take a banana leaf (cut small pieces)
  10. Then take a ball of dough and spread it on the banana leaf
  11. Wet your hands in between while you are spreading
  12. Add the coconut filling in the center
  13. Fold both sides
  14. Steam the ada for 15 minutes
  15. Cook on medium to high flame (I use an idli cooker for steaming the ada)
  16. Open the banana leaf when it cools
  17. Remove the ada from the leaf
  18. Enjoy!
