Carrot Halwa
Hello! Today I will be sharing another one of my favorite simple and sweet recipes: carrot halwa!
Ingredients:
- Carrots - 6
- Milk - 1/2 cup
- Sugar - 1/2 cup
- Cornflour - 2 tbsp
- Ghee - 1 tsp (coconut oil works as well)
- Ealakka - 1
- Water - 1/2 cup
Prep Steps:
- Take six cleaned and peeled carrots, then cut them into small pieces
- Put this into a blender, add 1/2 cup of milk
- Grind well until it reaches a smooth paste consistency
- Then transfer into another bowl and add two tbsp of cornflour, mix well, and keep aside
- Heat a pan and add 1/2 cup sugar ( I have used organic sugar, but any type works) and 1/2 cup water
- Heat the water and sugar (we just need to make a sugar solution)
- Let the solution come to boil, add grinded carrot mix, and stir well continuously on a low to medium flame
- Keep stirring continuously, then when the halwa consistency reaches a semi thick state, add 1 tbsp ghee or coconut oil
- Then go back to mixing continuously
- When the halwa consistency is semi - thick, and the ghee has also been released from the sides, switch off the heat, transfer into another bowl and leave to cool
- Spread ghee or butter on a mould or bowl of your choice, put the mixture in, and leave to set (Optional: garnish with items like sesame seeds or raisins
